“Bessarabia during World War I” Exhibition Opens at Center of Military History and CultureCHISINAU, September 27, 2016 — The Center of Military History and Culture of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova, together with the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau, opened today the exhibition “Bessarabia during World War I”. The exhibition includes a series of documents, unique testimonies and photographs, excerpts from archives from the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation regarding the situation in Bessarabia during According to Chief of the Center of Military History and Culture, retired col. Vitalie Ciobanu, the exhibition is organized for the first time and is dedicated to Bessarabia’s direct involvement in World War I. Col. Ciobanu mentioned that the exhibits reflect the deployment of Russian soldiers in Bessarabia, the mobilization and recruitment of local citizens in the Russian army, mobilization for forced labor of local population, Russian army’s supplying, as well as the consequences of World War I in the region. The exhibition will be open until October 20, 2016.
