CHISINAU, October 4, 2016 — The first amount of pesticide waste gathered in Falesti district was exported today to Poland, in order to be incinerated at SARPI Dabrowa Gornicza.

According to Col. Mariana Grama, deputy head of Logistics Directorate of the General Staff, the 17,273 tons of pesticides were prepared for export by a team of the Ministry of Defense, supervised by E.S. Field Services Veolia Company from Great Britain. These activities are part of the NATO/PfP Trust Fund Project on the disposal of dangerous pesticides and chemicals in the Republic of Moldova.

The source specified that, this fall, about 200 tons of pesticides will be exported from Falesti district.

At the end of September, 2016, the Ministry of Defense started the evacuation of pesticides from Falesti and Comrat districts.
