Moldovan-Italian Meeting at Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, March 15, 2017 — Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura met with the new ambassador of Italy in Chisinau, Valeria Biagiotti. The officials discussed the current stage of bilateral military relations.
Gheorghe Galbura thanked for the support offered in the defense institution’s reformation process and for the logistics support offered to National Army contingents within the KFOR Mission. Deputy Minister Galbura also mentioned the training opportunities for our officers and NCOs in Italian military educational institutions.
Ambassador Biagiotti highly appreciated the performances of Moldovan peacekeepers who, during the last three years, have been serving alongside Italian service members within Multinational Battle Group — West (MNBG-W).
At the end of the meeting, the officials appreciated the opportunity to exchange opinions and agreed on promoting the bilateral relations between Moldova and Italy, as well as on identifying new cooperation projects.
The Moldovan-Italian defense cooperation agreement was signed in 2006.
