Demining Missions in April



CHISINAU, May 2, 2017 — In April, the National Army engineers disposed of 30 explosive objects in villages from Causeni, Ungheni, Anenii Noi, Leova, and Stefan Voda districts.

According to LTC Serghei Chilivnic, Head of Engineer Service, Land Force Command, in this period, the military engineers were called in 16 times in order to carry out demining missions. During these missions, they destroyed artillery projectiles and bomb-launcher bombs dating back to World War II.

The source specified that, recently, the engineers of “Codru” Engineer Battalion were called in near Causeni town, where locals discovered two bomb-launcher bombs of 60 mm calibre and a bomb-launcher bomb of 82 mm calibre, during agricultural works. The ammunition was later destroyed at the National Army military training base from Bulboaca.

This year, the National Army engineers were called in 42 times throughout the country and disposed of 80 explosive objects.
