American Experience in Crisis Management

CHISINAU, June 12, 2017 — Within June 7-14, 2017, an officers team from the Ministry of Defense and Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service is paying a familiarization visit to “Vigilant Catamount” exercise, conducted in North Carolina, USA.

“Vigilant Catamount” is a disaster response exercise aiming to train and enhance the skills, experience, and ability of working together of civil agencies and the staff of the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG). The exercise is designed to test the ability to manage the entire cycle of actions in case of natural or man-made disasters.

While in North Carolina, the Moldovan officers will visit various military and civil facilities, including the Joint Operations Center, where they will be informed about the military and civil response in case of NBC incidents and “Crowd control and riots”.

The familiarization visit is part of the military cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the USA and aims to consolidate the national capabilities of crisis management.

The cooperation between the NCNG and the Republic of Moldova started in 1999.
