National Army Service Members Participate in “Rapid Trident 2017”



CHISINAU, September 6, 2017 — A National Army contingent consisting of 57 service members is participating in the training “Rapid Trident 2017” conducted at the International Peacekeeping Security Centre near Yavoriv, Ukraine, within September 7-23, 2017.

According to commander of the Moldovan contingent, LTC Alexandru Marcuta, the exercise aims to develop the level of interoperability, to consolidate the defense capacities, and to promote the National Army image on international level for future participation in peacekeeping missions.

The source mentioned that, during the activity, service members from 14 countries will test their interoperability while carrying out joint practical missions at command and control posts, convoy escort, cordon operations, patrol operations, as well as neutralization of improvised explosive objects and medical evacuation procedures.

The Moldovan contingent consists of service members from the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion and “Moldova” Brigade.

“Rapid Trident 2017” brings together about 1,800 service members from 14 countries: Bulgaria, Canada, Estonia, Italy, Georgia, Lithuania, Republic of Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
