Over 600 Soldiers Take the Military Oath



CHISINAU, September 21, 2017 — Over 600 soldiers, enlisted in the National Army units in July, 2017, took today the military oath during ceremonies held in Chisinau, Cahul, and Balti garrisons.

At the ceremony in Balti, Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura congratulated the 260 young men and encouraged them to make every effort in order to learn the military profession from their commanders, during the mandatory military service. “You will face a period full of challenges, with a demanding training program, but at demobilization you will have the knowledge and training of a true defender of the Motherland”, said Gheorghe Galbura.

In Military compound 142 from Chisinau, 183 soldiers took the military oath during a ceremony attended by National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, Director of General Staff, Col. Eduard Ohladciuc, parents, and relatives.

Brigadier Gen. Cutie appreciated the young soldiers’ performance during the initial training course and encouraged them to continue to be responsible when fulfilling their missions.

Also today, in Cahul, other 196 young men took the military oath within “Dacia” Brigade. The event was attended by Commander of Land Forces Command, Col. Mihail Buclis.

During the ceremonies, the guests were shown square bashing and wrestling exercises. At the same time, the units’ orchestras presented military music programs.

After taking the military oath, the soldiers get a four-day leave. Then, they will be sent to National Army units.

The mandatory military service lasts 12 months.
