Special Forces Battalion Celebrates 25th Anniversary (video)

CHISINAU, November 1, 2017 — Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” (SFB) of the National Army celebrated today the 25th anniversary at the Military training base from Bulboaca, where the unit’s service members are participating in the international exercise “JCET-2017” (Joint Combined Exchange Training).

The Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza congratulated the SFB staff and mentioned the professionalism and dedication of each service member of the unit during special missions. “It is certain that the peace in this country is due to the presence and professional training of those wearing the green berets and the Special Forces badges. I know that you make many sacrifices, you leave your home issues behind, put your profession on first place and first of all you think about what you can do for the country and not about what the country is doing for you. I know about these issues and I want to thank you for your commitment”, said the Minister of Defense.

On this occasion, as well as for excellent fulfillment of service duty, Eurgen Sturza awarded diplomas and certificates of appreciation to a group of Battalion’s service members.

Also today, the Minister of Defense attended, together with the military attaches to the Republic of Moldova, to the activities organized on the Distinguished Visitors Day within “JCET” exercise.

Eugen Sturza thanked the American and Romanian partners for the support offered in conducting the exercise held within October-November, 2017.

The guests observed the military training of Special Forces from the National Army, Romania and the USA at various training sites.

According to SFB Commander, LTC Ion Ojog, the officers and NCOs of the three armies carry out shootings using different types of weapons and field trainings. The Special Forces service members also showed their vehicles and weapons.

Special Forces Battalion “Fulger” of the National Army, unit decorated with Order “Credinta Patriei” (Loyalty to Motherland), 1st class, was established on November 1, 1992. The unit fulfills missions of direct action, special search, anti-terrorism missions, search-rescue and evacuation, and defense of strategic importance facilities.
