Presidential Orchestra – 25 Years of Performances

CHISINAU, November 7, 2017 — On its 25th anniversary, the Presidential Orchestra has become the calling card not only of the National Army, but also of the Republic of Moldova. This school of professional instrumentalists and vocalists develops talents and performs music of quality. The statement was made by Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Defense on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova.

Eugen Sturza mentioned the contribution of those who established the orchestra, as well as of the musicians who represent this subdivision of the National Army.

A group of officers and NCOs of the Presidential Orchestra received diplomas of the Parliament and Government, National Army medals and certificates of appreciation for making efforts in promoting the military music.

During the activity, the Orchestra’s instrumentalists presented a military and traditional musical program.

The Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova was established on November 7, 1992. The subdivision comprises the “Doina Armatei” folk music orchestra and the Aerophone Orchestra, with a staff of 85 service members and civilians.

The subdivision participates in military parades, protocol ceremonies and unveiling of monuments, military-patriotic events, military exercises, and oath ceremonies.

During the 25 years of activity, the musicians of the Presidential Orchestra have been representing the National Army at international festivals from Belgium, France, Germany, Romania, and the Russian Federation.
