National Army Starts Military Training Year 2018
CHISINAU, January 5, 2018 — Today, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and General Staff checked the combat readiness of the entire National Army. The conscripts and service members from the military garrisons carried out specific actions using military vehicles.
The testing was done in the framework of assessing the units’ level of readiness, as well as according to the National Army Training Plan for 2018.
Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza stated that such actions are necessary for understanding the National Army’s level of readiness for fulfilling its missions in different situations. Eugen Sturza mentioned that such inspections will take place regularly, their aim being to increase the army’s combat readiness.
According to Chief of General Staff, National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Igor Cutie, this year, the defense institution’s objectives will focus on starting and implementing the army’s transformation process in order to ensure a higher defense capacity of the country, to increase the National Army’s contribution to international and regional stability through participation in international missions and operations, and to support civilian authorities during crisis situations.
