Moldovan-Romanian Meeting in Constanta
CHISINAU, August 15, 2018 — Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza met today with his Romanian counterpart, Mihai Fifor, in Constanta.
The two officials talked about the regional security, the defense cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, the prospective of strengthening the cooperation between the two armies, and Moldova’s partnerships with NATO and EU.
Minister Sturza informed his Romanian counterpart about the actions started and implemented by the defense institution’s leadership in the framework of National Army’s reformation, with a focus on implementing the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI), the National Army’s professionalization, and improving the social protection for the military and civilian staff.
In this regard, Eugen Sturza appreciated Romania’s support in achieving the modernization objectives of the National Army, including the scholarships offered to our officers and NCOs in military educational institutions. Minister Sturza thanked for the training opportunities for Moldovan military alongside their Romanian colleagues within bilateral and multinational exercises conducted in the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Germany, Ukraine, and Bulgaria.
Eugen Sturza mentioned also the support of the Government of Romania in implementing the social projects aimed to ensure the safety of Moldovan citizens, such as the NATO Project on disposal of pesticides that was managed by the National Army.
Minister Mihai Fifor stated that the Moldovan-Romanian defense cooperation has reached important achievements throughout time. In this respect, the Romanian Minister of Defense specified that he will continue to support the National Army of the Republic of Moldova, especially regarding the reform started this year.
Minister Fifor added that Romania will support our country on its European course and called for the reinforcement of the defense cooperation.
While in Constanta, the Minister of Defense attended the festivities organized by the Naval Forces on the occasion of Romanian Navy’s Day.
