New Ambassador of Lithuania in the Republic of Moldova Pays Visit to Ministry of Defense



Chisinau, September 12, 2018 — Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza met today with the new Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Moldova, Kestutis Kudzmanas.

Eugen Sturza congratulated the Lithuanian official on his appointment and wished him success in his mandate.

Minister Sturza said that, recently, the cooperation between Lithuania and Moldova has advanced, especially through projects of assistance, training, expertise, and joint participation of Moldovan and Lithuanian service members in international exercises.

In this regard, Eugen Sturza appreciated the Lithuanian Government’s contribution to the training of National Army officers and NCOs in military institutions from the Baltic States, the financial support offered for the implementation of the NATO/PfP Project on disposal of dangerous pesticides and chemicals in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the assistance of Lithuanian experts for the defense sector’s reformation.

The Minister of Defense added that Lithuania’s vast experience is an example for our country regarding the defense sector’s reformation and modernization and expressed his hope that the Moldovan-Lithuanian dialogue will continue through projects and initiatives that will benefit both armies.

Kestutis Kudzmanas mentioned that is a privilege for him to hold this position and that his country will continue to advocate for an efficient partnership with the Republic of Moldova in areas of mutual interest.

The military cooperation of the Republic of Moldova and Lithuania has started in 2000.
