The General State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Pays Visit to Brussels



Chisinau, September 18, 2018 — General State Secretary Radu Burduja met with NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Defense Policy and Planning Jonathan Parish in Brussels.

The officials talked about the defense cooperation of the Republic of Moldova with NATO with a focus on the projects implemented in our country with the Alliance’s support and the participation of National Army contingents in KFOR operation in Kosovo.

Thus, the talks focused on the Defense Capacity Building Initiative through which NATO offered expertise for the development of strategic documents — National Defense Strategy and Military Strategy.

The officials also referred to the NATO/Partnership for Peace project regarding the disposal of pesticides and chemicals in the Republic of Moldova, a project finalized in June, 2018 with the disposal of over 3,245 tons of pesticides collected throughout Moldova’s territory.

Radu Burduja thanked the NATO official for the contribution to our country’s defense sector’s reformation and requested NATO’s support for the implementation of stage II of DCBI which includes military capabilities building.

The General State Secretary is paying a visit to Belgium within September 17-19, 2018 where he is attending an Alumni workshop of the George C. Marshall Center East.
