The Partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Italy Discussed at Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, September 19, 2018 — Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza and Ambassador of Italy in the Republic of Moldova Valeria Biagiotti talked about the bilateral military cooperation during a meeting held at the defense institution’s headquarters.

The talks were also attended by military attaché of Italy, Col. Andrea Tiveron, and included subjects related to the defense sector’s reformation, the joint participation in peacekeeping operations, and other topics of mutual interest.

Minister Sturza thanked the Italian Government for ensuring logistics for the National Army contingents within KFOR peacekeeping operation in Kosovo and for this year’s donation of military equipment and vehicles.

Eugen Sturza also referred to the training opportunities offered to National Army military and public servants in Italian educational institutions and the financial contribution of Italy to the implementation of the NATO/PfP project on the disposal of pesticides in the Republic of Moldova.

Valeria Biagiotti appreciated the good results of the Moldovan contingents within KFOR mission and specified that Italy is available to continue to support the National Army of the Republic of Moldova through the identification and implementation of new projects that will benefit both armies.
