General State Secretary Attends CSDP Seminar in Vilnius



CHISINAU, October 9, 2018 — General State Secretary Radu Burduja is attending the High-level seminar “Eastern Partnership and the European Security: Enhanced Cooperation to overcome Common Challenges” of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) of the European Union (EU) conducted in Vilnius, Lithuania, within October 8-10, 2018.

According to chief of the Defense Policy and Planning Directorate, Col. Gheorghe Oarza, the activity brings together high level officials, experts, and analysts from member states of EU, Eastern Partnership, and representatives of EU institutions.

The source specified that the participants are assessing the current stage of cooperation included in the Eastern Partnership Document “20 deliverables for 2020” and the opportunities for developing the security and defense cooperation relations of EU with Eastern partners.

Col. Oarza added that the Seminar’s program will include a session focused on the consolidation of the dialogue between the “Associated Trio” (Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine) and EU on CSDP aspects, while identifying ways of expanding this cooperation.

While in Vilnius, the General State Secretary will meet with Deputy Minister of National Defense of Lithuania, Vytautas Umbrasas, Director of Crisis Management and Planning Directorate of the European External Action Service, Gabor Iklody, as well as his counterparts from other countries.

The High-level seminar of the Common Security and Defense Policy of the European Union is organized by the Ministry of National Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, in cooperation with Eastern Europe Studies Centre from Lithuania.
