The New British Attaché Presented at the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, October 31, 2018 — Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza met today with Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Chisinau, Lucy Joyce who presented the new British defense attaché residing in Chisinau, squadron commander Rob Hall
Eugen Sturza congratulated the military official on his appointment and wished him success in his mandate. Minister Sturza expressed the conviction that the attaché will contribute to the identification of new projects aimed to expand and reinforce the bilateral defense cooperation.
The Minister of Defense thanked the British Government for the linguistic training of service members who are to participate in the peacekeeping mission KFOR in Kosovo, the opportunity to study in specialized institution from Great Britain offered to Moldovan officers and NCOs, as well as for the expertise in developing the strategic documents in the framework of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI). Eugen Sturza also appreciated the support of the British military in training the team of military students for participation in “Cambrian Patrol 2018” competition from Wales, where the National Army won the silver medal.
During the meeting, Eugen Sturza also informed Lucy Joyce and Rob Hall about the regional situation and the current stage of the military reform that has been started with the objective of consolidating and professionalizing the National Army in order to make it more mobile, able to fulfill its missions at home and abroad.
The Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland mentioned that her country will continue to support the defense institution’s reform through assistance and training projects and Rob Hall assured that he will make every effort for the successful implementation of the cooperation projects of the two countries’ defense institutions.
