Ambassadors Accredited to Chisinau Convene at the Ministry of Defense for the First Time
CHISINAU, December 12, 2018 — Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza met today with the ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Moldova and the representatives of international organizations.
An event in this format is organized for the first time at the Ministry of Defense and has the objective to inform the diplomats about the defense institution’s achievements and challenges in 2018 and the medium and long term priorities.
Eugen Sturza thanked the officials for accepting the invitation, this fact showing the interest of partner countries for the defense sector and expressed the hope that such meetings aiming to boost external partnerships would become a tradition.
The Minister of Defense also appreciated the support of the diplomats and their states for the defense sector’s reformation that was offered through expertise, assistance projects, and military education. All these activities represented a fundamental contribution to the National Army’s modernization.
During the reunion, the representatives of the Ministry of Defense informed the ambassadors about the development of the security environment, international cooperation, and the current stage of the defense reform, with a focus on the approval of strategic documents, implementation of the Program “Professional Army” and other projects oriented towards offering a better social protection to the military staff.
The activity organized for the first time at the Ministry of Defense brought together ambassadors and military attaches from Austria, Czechia, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Qatar, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Romania, USA, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary and representatives of EU, NATO, OSCE, and UNDP.
