Public Servants Learn About Security and Defense
CHISINAU, January 18, 2019 — General State Secretary, Radu Burduja met today with the auditors of the Postgraduate course on national defense and security at the Ministry of Defense. The course is organized by the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” (MAAF) during January 14 — April 19, 2019.
Radu Burduja presented an analysis of the current security environment and the vision and main activity directions of the Ministry of Defense for this year. Mr. Burduja also mentioned that, presently, the institution is involved in a series of projects and programs having the goal to modernize the national defense system.
The General State Secretary encouraged the 21 representatives of religious denominations from the Republic of Moldova, of Ministries of Defense, Internal Affairs, Education, Culture and Research, Finances, of the State Protection and Guard Service and civil society who are attending this course to inform themselves as well as possible about the defense and security sector and, after graduating the course and returning to the institutions they are representing, to contribute to changing the perception about the defense theme, which means more than just the military area.
According to prorector of the Military Academy of Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”, LTC (r) Igor Sofronescu, the studies aim to familiarize the public servants and service members from the central departments of military command with the national security’s current issues and to train them for leading positions within institutions responsible for national defense and security.
The source specified that the course includes subjects related to military-political systems and doctrines, good governance and strategic leadership, national and international security, information warfare, international humanitarian law, civilian-military relations, and other relevant themes.
Igor Sofronescu added that, during the course, the participants will pay familiarization visits to central public authorities, military units of force structures, and strategic importance facilities of our country.
This is the sixth edition of the Postgraduate course on national defense and security entitled “Current issues of national security”.
