USA to Continue to Support National Army’s Reformation



CHISINAU, January 29, 2019 — Minister of Defense Eugen Sturza and Ambassador of the USA in the Republic of Moldova, Dereck J. Hogan, reviewed today the military cooperation between the two countries and established the priorities for 2019.

The officials referred to the defense system’s reformation that has been started by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the USA’s support for its achievement.

Thus, Eugen Sturza thanked Ambassador Hogan for the assistance offered by the American Government through educational and training projects and programs, technical assistance and renovation of military infrastructure that are aimed to build the National Army’s capabilities. In this regard, Minister Sturza mentioned the International Military Education and Training (IMET), the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) and other actions which provide for testing the interoperability between the military of the two armies.

The US Ambassador appreciated the efforts made by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense in order to carry out the defense reform including the implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI).

The diplomat also underscored the excellent cooperation between the armies of the USA and the Republic of Moldova and expressed his country’s availability to strengthen the defense partnership.
