CHISINAU, April 12, 2011 - Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta met with His Excellency Shannon Keith, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Republic of Moldova.
According to LTC Vlad Ababii, Chief of Defense Policy and Planning Directorate, the officials discussed about the basic Moldovan-British military cooperation activities.
According to the Minister of Defense, the cooperation with the British partners supports the military reform implementation process based on the development and modernization of military state institutions. The Moldovan party pledges for the further enhancement of cooperation relations with the United Kingdom. Thus, Minister Vitalie Marinuta confirmed Republic of Moldova leaders would keep encouraging the country’s accession to European Union. The minister also thanked the British official for the experts’ aid and cooperation in implementing Strategic Defense Review (SDR).
Ambassador Keith appreciated the high level of the British-Moldovan bilateral affairs. The official stated his country would keep supporting Republic of Moldova’s European integration process. Great Britain will continue encouraging SDR implementation, for this is a basic condition for a successful military reform.
