CHISINAU, April 15, 2011 – Military service strengthens body and spirit to be able to face life challenges, Mayor of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca, stated Friday, April 15, during the Recruit’s Day and Doors Open Day at Stefan cel Mare Light Brigade from Chisinau.
„I address to young conscripts to be organized, fulfill the military service requirements and be close like brothers”, Dorin Chirtoaca said. The mayor drove an armored car and had the soldier’s lunch cooked in a field kitchen following good military traditions.
The event brought together nearly 200 recruits to be conscripted to Stefan cel Mare Brigade, as well as parents, pupils and students from Chisinau. The guests were shown the conscripts’ living conditions, the canteen, the museum of the brigade, Saint Victor Church, the training site and the military technical equipment.
People also had the chance to watch a wrestling program, a weapon handling presentation of the Guard of Honor, Stefan cel Mare Brigade orchestra performance and other specific activities.
The National Army Commander, Brigadier Gen. Iurie Dominic, appreciated the Recruit’s Day and the Doors Open Day as an event of major patriotic and civic importance, for young men from Chisinau will join the Army soon, put on military clothes and take their oath.
„The National Army is currently the best school of commitment, courage and force to face life hardships. I wish you all much dignity, confidence and strength while in the military, Gen. Dominic stated.
Nearly 2000 young men, including 200 from Chisinau, will join the Army this spring.
