Minister Voicu Talks with Ambassador Ionita about the Moldovan-Romanian Defense Cooperation



CHISINAU, June 25, 2019 — Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu met with ambassador of Romania in the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ionita.

The officials talked about the bilateral cooperation in the area of defense and within international organizations, as well as about ways of boosting the Moldovan-Romanian military dialogue.

Pavel Voicu informed ambassador Ionita about his priorities as Minister of Defense which will focus on continuing and advancing the defense reform, especially the army’s professionalization, procurement of vehicles and weapons, employment of new staff and its training, and improvement of the soldiers’ social conditions.

Minister of Defense also referred to the Romania’s contribution to the training of National Army service members within military institutions from Romania and during bilateral and multinational military exercises.

Daniel Ionita congratulated Pavel Voicu on his appointment as Minister of Defense and wished him success in achieving the established objectives.

Ambassador Ionita mentioned that Romania will continue to support the defense institution by conducting projects and programs aimed at modernizing the National Army.
