Minister of Defense Meets with Ambassador of Austria to Chisinau



CHISINAU, July 1, 2019 — Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu met with Ambassador of Austria to Chisinau, Christine Freilinger.

The talks between the officials regarded the cooperation between the army of the Republic of Moldova and the army of Austria, established through OSCE, within some projects aimed at making more efficient the management of ammunition stockpiles from National Army depots and staff’s training.

Pavel Voicu appreciated Austria’s contribution, as leader country of the multinational group of instructors on Small Arms and Light Weapons and Conventional Ammunition, to the training of over one hundred representatives of the National Army, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, and Security and Intelligence Service.

The Minister of Defense also thanked for the two mobile kits for analysis and testing of powder and propelling charge of ammunition (QPAK-13) that have been donated to the National Army by Austria, Sweden, Germany, and Switzerland in 2017.

The meeting was also attended by the military attaché of Austria, Col. Erich Simbuerger, who is finishing his mandate. On this occasion, Minister Voicu thanked him for his involvement in the implementation of projects and wished him success in his future activity.

At the end of the meeting, the officials agreed on strengthening the military cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Austria.
