Moldovan-Italian Meeting Organized at Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, July 9, 2019 — The aspects of the defense cooperation on bilateral level and within international organizations, as well as the opportunities for strengthening the Moldovan-Italian partnership have been discussed today by Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu and Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Moldova, Valeria Biagiotti.

During the meeting, the Minister of Defense mentioned that the defense sector’s reformation, the projects started and implemented with the partners’ support aiming at achieving the strategic objectives represent the priorities of his mandate.

In this regard, Pavel Voicu thanked the Italian Government for the donation of medical equipment and military vehicles, for training service members and public servants in Italian educational institutions, and for Italy’s financial contribution within the NATO/PfP project on the disposal of pesticides in the Republic of Moldova.

The Minister of Defense also appreciated the Italian Army’s support for the 11 National Army contingents deployed to KFOR operation in Kosovo.

Valeria Biagiotti appreciated the performance of the Moldovan peacekeepers who are part of the Multinational Battle Group — West (MNBG-W), stationed at “Camp Villaggio Italia” in Pech.

Ambassador Biagiotti added that Italy will continue to support the National Army’s reformation process and the expansion of our country’s participation in stabilization and peacekeeping missions.
