Sweden Has a New Military Attaché in the Republic of Moldova



CHISINAU, July 9, 2019 — General State Secretary, Radu Burduja, met today with the new military attaché of the Kingdom of Sweden appointed to the Republic of Moldova, Commander Björn Vilbern, at the Ministry of Defense HQ.

Radu Burduja congratulated Commander Vilbern on his appointment and wished him success during his mandate.

During the meeting, the General State Secretary mentioned how important is the bilateral military cooperation for the defense institution and appreciated the support offered by Sweden for the achievement of international commitments and implementation of projects and programs aimed at reforming the defense sector.

In this regard, the officials talked about the implementation in our country of the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, and Security” and the Program on Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW).

Radu Burduja also thanked the former military attaché, LTC Peter Liden, who attended the activity, for his contribution to the development and advancement of the Moldovan-Swedish defense partnership and wished him success in his military career.
