Repeated Inspection in Military Compound 142

CHISINAU, July 24, 2019 — Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu, together with Brig. Gen. Igor Gorgan, National Army Commander, inspected today the military compound 142 from Chisinau.

This is the defense institution’s leadership’s second visit in the military compound in order to check how the deficiencies have been eliminated and to observe the solutions to the problems related to the repair and renovation of the unit’s infrastructure and military vehicles.

Pavel Voicu was satisfied with the quality of works of painting and repair of military vehicles and their conditions in the sheds. The works have been carried out as a result of the inspection of July 10, 2019.

The Minister of Defense also visited the sports complex, the shooting range of Special Forces Battalion “Fulger”, the unit’s cultural-educational center, and the piece of land destined for the building of the military compound’s stadium.

At the end of the visit, the Minister of Defense described as deplorable the conditions of the cultural-educational building where the walls and ceiling are damaged, thus presenting a risk for the soldiers’ security.

Pavel Voicu also talked with the National Army’s decision-makers about the possible actions for solving the situation and the urgent construction of a stadium for the compound’s officers and NCOs, because the current conditions present an advanced state of degradation.

“For National Army service members, the physical training and the moral-psychological state are important elements for ensuring the defense institution’s good functioning and for fulfilling the service missions. This is why I ordered the identification of necessary resources, economic agents and partners that can help us to build a modern stadium for the compound and to repair the cultural-educational center, so the soldiers will have decent conditions for working and training. I also ordered the reparation of the Special Forces’ shooting range and, within two weeks maximum, to organize test firings,” said Pavel Voicu.

Minister Voicu added that he informed the Presidency, the Government and the Parliament about the unsatisfactory situation and the stringent needs in the field of construction, repair and renovation of National Army’s infrastructure and military vehicles and expressed his conviction that the resources and solutions required for the improvement will be identified in a short period of time.

The leadership of the Ministry of Defense and National Army will inspect all the military units in order to identify the problems and deficiencies related to the training, working conditions, and goods’ management in the National Army.
