Minister of Defense and Ambassador of China to the Republic of Moldova Talk about the Moldovan-Chinese Military Cooperation



CHISINAU, August 6, 2019 — The Moldovan-Chinese military cooperation was discussed today by Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu and Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Moldova, Zhang Yinghong, during a meeting organized at the Ministry of Defense.

The talks centered mainly on the assistance provided by China in the area of training and logistics, thus contributing to the National Army’s reformation and the institution’s gradual professionalization.

In this regard, the Minister of Defense thanked the official for the education opportunities offered to Moldovan soldiers in military institutions from China, as well as for the donations of logistics transportation and medical vehicles, computing and communication devices, electric generators, and medical equipment.

The officials also talked about the actions undertaken by the new leadership of the Ministry of Defense aimed at enhancing the service members’ social package in the context of “Professional Army” Program’s implementation, maintaining and building partnerships with the members of the European Union and with the strategic partners, and developing cooperation relations with international organizations, including UN, NATO, and OSCE.

Ambassador Zhang Yinghong highlighted the availability of the People’s Republic of China to continue to provide assistance in areas that are crucial for the reformation of the defense institution of the Republic of Moldova.

The Moldovan-Chinese military cooperation started on June 23, 2002.
