Demining Missions in July



CHISINAU, August 7, 2019 — In July, the National Army engineers disposed of 26 explosive objects and over 1,500 cartridges from infantry weapons that have been discovered throughout the country.

According to Chief of National Army Engineer Service, LTC Adrian Efros, during this period, the service members have carried out 27 demining missions during which they have identified and destroyed bomb-launcher bombs, projectiles, and hand grenades.

LTC Efros mentioned that, recently, the engineers of “Codru” Battalion have been called in to Puhaceni village, Anenii Noi district, where the locals found an unknown explosive object in a field. After the searches, the team of military engineers has identified a reactive projectile of 320 mm caliber dating back to World War II. It was destroyed on-site, under maximum security conditions.

Also in July, the engineers of “Codru” Battalion intervened in Chisinau, where a bomb-launcher bomb of 82 mm caliber has been discovered on a construction site. The engineers transported and neutralized it at the Training Area from Bulboaca.

Since the beginning of 2019, the National Army engineers have carried out 139 demining missions destroying 6,900 explosive objects.
