CHISINAU, September 9, 2019 - The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Moldova, together with the Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, conducts, on September 9-20, a course in the field of Defense Management in the Context of Global Security Defense in the Wider Security Context (MDWSC) Course.

The training, which is a first for our country, is attended by representatives of central public authorities, the Parliament, the Government, the Reintegration Office, the Intelligence and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova, as well as government agencies in Romania, Ukraine and Georgia.

Present at the opening ceremony of the course, which took place today at the Center for Military Culture and History, the State Secretary Aurel Fondos mentioned the importance of such an activity for the professional development of military personnel and specialists in state institutions, who hold positions of management and are involved in the decision-making process regarding the implementation of security and defense policies.

"I am convinced that this course will contribute to promoting the participatory spirit and stimulating initiatives in the field, to a better understanding of management practices and management of the security and defense system, will increase the professionalism of military and civilian personnel responsible for security and defense development. , will elucidate the role of political decision makers in the leadership and civilian control of the Armed Forces ", said Aurel Fondos.

The State Secretary also thanked the UK Ministry of Defense for being receptive to promoting a culture of security and providing support in training force personnel.

For his part, Gary Davis, deputy head of the British diplomatic mission in our country, said that the United Kingdom is open to sharing the best experiences in defense management with partners from the Republic of Moldova, Georgia, Romania and Ukraine. Gary Davis added that the topics, which are part of the course syllabus, were selected based on the current security situation in the region, which makes them useful and important for staff in government institutions.

According to the head of the Defense Policy and Defense Planning Directorate, Colonel Gheorghe Oarza, the training contains seven modules that underlie the national defense system - security and defense, international humanitarian law, policy development, strategies, leadership, defense transformation and defense management.

It should be noted that the activity is included in the Moldovan-British Bilateral Cooperation Plan for 2019, as well as in the External Activity Plan of the Ministry of Defense and the National Army in 2019.
