In memory of heroes

CHISINAU, May 9, 2011 — Leaders of the Ministry of Defense and National Army servicemen took part Monday, May 9, in the 66^th anniversary ceremony of victory over fascism.

The participants in the event, including veterans of Soviet and Romanian armies, officials, representatives of embassies and international missions to Republic of Moldova, as well as thousands of citizens, laid flowers to Eternitate Memorial to remember soldiers dead in Second World War.

Servicemen of the Guard of Honor gave a military salute to honor heroes dead in war. Servicemen from Chisinau Garrison laid flowers to „Capul de Pod Serpeni” (Serpeni Bridgehead) Memorial and kept a moment of silence.

Balti, Cahul, Ungheni garrisons laid flowers to monuments of heroes of war in areas where military units are located.

After the commemoration ceremonies, everyone joined the event „Field kitchen welcomes to soldier’s lunch”.
