Defense Attaches in Republic of Moldova meet at Ministry of Defense



Chisinau, January 23, 2020 The military attaches in the Republic of Moldova met today at an activity assessment reunion in Chisinau, at the Ministry of Defense.

During the event, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and of the National Army Main Staff discussed the external defense cooperation of the past year and the National Army priorities for 2020 .

Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc spoke about the role of the military attaché and of the international organizations — OSCE Mission, the NATO Liaison Office in expanding security and defense cooperation between Republic of Moldova and the countries it represents. You have the role of being promoters of initiatives, of organizing and managing the bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the defense institutions of our partners", said Minister Gaiciuc.

Victor Gaiciuc thanked the officials for their kindness, support and assistance to the Republic of Moldova in the process of reforming the national defense system. "Through joint projects and initiatives, we have succeeded in continuing to strengthen the military capabilities of the National Army on key areas such as military education system, training, personnel, technical-material resources, infrastructure. We have had a fruitful cooperation with you throughout the year 2019. I hope that the collaboration relations established between our institutions will remain as good and prosperous in the future, “said the Minister of Defense.

The president of the Association of Defense Attackers, Colonel Cristi-Mitică Ladaniuc, that they will contribute to the development of collaborative relations. “Before we are military graduates, we are officers with a wealth of experience in the field. From this point of view, there is a great openness on our part to participate in military ceremonies as well as in other activities such as exercises or visits to military units. I assure you that by our presence in these activities, we will be able to respond much more promptly to the needs of the National Army”, said Colonel Ladaniuc.

Also today the 26 defense attachés and representatives of the OSCE Mission and the NATO Liaison Office paid a familiarization visited the military compound 142 from Chisinau, where a few National Army units are dislocated. The Military Attachments meeting, organized by the Ministry of Defense, takes place annually. The event aims to familiarize the body of military personnel with the current stage of development of the National Army.

Currently, 29 military attachés are accredited to our country. Seven countries — Romania, the USA, Russian Federation, Poland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Ukraine — have military diplomats based in Chisinau, the rest are based in Bucharest, Kiev, and Kingdom of the Netherlands.
