Moldovan- Italian Meeting at Ministry of Defense
Chisinau, January 24, 2020 — The Moldovan — Italian military cooperation was discussed today by Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc and the Ambassador of Italy in the Republic of Moldova, Valeria Biagiotti.
The discussions took place at the Ministry of Defense. The officials talked about the opportunities offered to National Army service members and public servants in specialized institutions in Italy, as well as for the contribution in implementing the NATO/PfP Project on pesticide disposal in the Republic of Moldova and about the donation of medical equipment and military vehicles, and about the Italian Army’s support for the 11 National Army contingents deployed to KFOR operation in Kosovo.
Other issues discussed were the defense sector’s reformation, the regional situation, cooperation with foreign partners to respect Moldova’s neutrality
Finally, Minister Gaiciuc and the Ambassador of Italy, Valeria Biagiotti agreed, that they will make every effort to support any cooperation initiative defense between the two countries.
The KFOR-12 contingent left for Kosovo in December 2019 and consists of 41 service members, out of which seven engineers, a platoon of 33 infantrymen, and one staff officer. Their mission in Kosovo will last six months.
