Moldovan-German consultations at the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, February 7, 2020 — Moldovan-German defense consultations took place between February 4 and 6, at the Ministry of Defense.

The activity, attended by representatives of the two defense institutions, aimed at reviewing the bilateral cooperation in 2019 and the activities planned for 2020, as well as identifying new areas of cooperation.

Other addressed topics during the consultations concerned the achievements of the defense sector reform, the activities carried out in the context of the implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI), the assistance provided by the German side for the development of the National Army, which includes training, donation for the field of military medicine, as well as specialized equipment and for ammunition stock management.

At the same time, the German delegation met with the Secretary of State Aurel Fondos, during the main activities on defense dimension, cooperation directions, but also the priorities of the National Army for the future were discussed.

Also, Aurel Fondos appreciated the support given by the Federal Republic of Germany to the training of the National Army personnel, as well as the technical assistance offered for the development of the capabilities of the Armament and Ammunition Center of the National Army and of the technical storage base of the armament and military patrimony of Floresti, donation which represents an important contribution to a safer environment for Moldovan citizens by facilitating the process of storing and transporting ammunition under maximum safety conditions

The members’ agenda of the German delegation also included a visit to the Language Center of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”, where they had a meeting with the German language course graduates.

The foreign experts also went to the Base for the technical preservation of the armament and military patrimony in Floresti, where they were informed about the achievements of the projects aimed at improving the management of the armaments and ammunition stocks in the National Army.

The bilateral consultations were carried out in accordance with the Moldovan-German Cooperation Plan for 2020.
