National Army Service Members have marked the Remembrance Day



CHISINAU, March 2, 2020 — Commemoration events that are dedicated to the heroes who died defending the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova were organized today at all the National Army Garrisons.

The Minister of Defense, Victor Gaiciuc, the Prime Minister, Ion Chicu, and other members of the Cabinet of Ministers, Commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, General State Secretary Rostislav Rotari, together with the war veterans, laid flowers at the monument of Stefan cel Mare si Sfant in Chisinau. The event was followed by a Memory March from “Marii Adunari Nationale Square” to “Maica Indurerata”, and “Eternitate Memorial”, where a commemoration meeting was held.

The service members from Balti, Cahul, Ungheni, Causeni garrisons together with the local public authorities have commemorated the fallen heroes of the Dniester War on the plateaus from Cocieri, Varnita, and Cosnita. The participants laid flowers at the monument of the heroes lost in the war.

The same day, in accordance with the Government’s Provision making reference to the organization of the events dedicated to The Remembrance Day. The Dniester War’s veterans attended the meal that was organized for them. The commemorative plaques will be installed on some buildings in the localities and patriotic education will be organized in the educational institutions and military units.

According to the official data, over 30 thousand people participated in the 1991-1992 Dniester War that killed 300 military and civilians, and injured 3,500 people.
