The military from National Army Units are trained in the field of gender equality in international operations and missions



CHISINAU, March 12, 2020 - The graduates of the tactical level GFP (Gender Focal Point Course - tactical level) received their diplomas today, during a ceremony held at Center of Military History and Culture.

The certificates were handed by Secretary of State Vladimir Iliev, who has congratulated the graduates and stated with confidence that once the return units, they will integrate the gender perspective at the workplace, including the participation in military operations and international missions.

“Certainly, this course will contribute to the strengthening of the capabilities of the representatives of the National Army, who is going to participate in the KFOR mission, but also of those involved in different activities in the field of promoting gender equality”, said Vladimir Iliev.

The course was held from March 10 to March 12 and has brought together 24 officers from the military units of the National Army, who were trained by a mobile team of specialists from the Nordic Center for Gender Mainstreaming in Military Operations (NCGM) and The South Eastern and Eastern Europe Clearinghouse for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SEESAC) in the field of advising commanders on the integration of the gender perspective in all functional areas and the development of cooperation relations in the field within the institution.

The training was organized by the Ministry of Defense, in partnership with the Swedish NCGM, in the context of the implementation UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
