Moldovan-American Meeting at the Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, March 13, 2020 – The Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc and the Ambassador of the USA in the Republic of Moldova, Dereck J. Hogan reviewed today the military cooperation between the two countries and joint projects realized in this context.

The officials discussed, during the meeting, about the current state of defense sector reform and the USA’s support for its achievement.

Thus, the parties referred to educational and training projects, technical assistance and renovation of military infrastructure, as well as the participation of the National Army`s military in the international peacekeeping operations.

In this regard, the officials spoke about postponing the activities provided for in the Bilateral Cooperation Plan 2020, carried out both in the country and abroad, with the participation of the Moldovan military, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus.

In the end, the two officials agreed to continue the cooperation in the defense segment, once with the cases’ amelioration in the field of epidemiological situation worldwide.
