The National Army, in support of the authorities, in the fight against COVID-19 (video)

Chisinau, March 23, 2020 –At the request of the Minister of Defense, Alexandru Pinzari, the National Army intervenes with technical and personnel units to support the authorities in the fight against the new COVID-19 virus. Thus, IVECO and Chevrolet minibuses left this morning to several medical institutions, including the Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases "Toma Ciorba", the Institute of Emergency Medicine and the Municipal Clinical Hospital for Contagious Diseases for Children, to ensure the transport of medical staff to work and at home.

According to the Minister of Defense, the decision to provide the transport units of the army for this purpose was taken at the request of the leadership of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and, in particular, of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection. "It is our duty, of all of us, to help and to do our best for preventing the spread of this virus and to help the medical staff, who take care of the patients` health, to get home safely and on time. Our military will be on duty for an indefinite period and will intervene whenever needed ", said Alexandru Pinzari.

At the same time, ambulances from the Central Military Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Defense transported patients who initially showed signs of COVID-19 infection to their homes on Saturday and Sunday, but the tests turned out to be negative. At the same time, other vehicles from the National Army are prepared to travel, if necessary, to strategic medical institutions, to take over doctors.
