The commander of the National Army, present at the event to commemorate the victims of Chernobyl (video)



 

CHISINAU, April 26, 2020 — The Chief of the General Staff, Commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, participated today in the commemoration ceremony of the victims of the catastrophe at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which took place at the Chernobyl Victims Memorial, in the Botanica sector .

The official laid flowers at the monument dedicated to the participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the explosion, together with representatives of the Supreme Security Council, but also by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, members of the Chernobyl Union Association of Moldova, and several veterans.

It should be noted that today marks 34 years since the Chernobyl disaster, the greatest nuclear catastrophe of all time.

More than 3,500 citizens of the Republic of Moldova participated in the liquidation of its consequences, of which 3,000 reservists, including 231 officers mobilized by the military commissariats, 400 soldiers from the active military service, 70 collaborators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and 500 civilians.
