Another 34 projectiles liquidated by the National Army engineers in Batati village, Ialoveni (video)

CHISINAU, April 29, 2020 — The engineers of the National Army continue the demining mission near Baltati village, Ialoveni district.

Thus, according to the head of the Engineering Service, Lieutenant-Colonel Adrian Efros, the group of specialists of the Codru” Genius Battalion, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Gheorghe Banu, researched on Tuesday, April 28, 4 ha of land with a total area of 44 ha of the forest.

As a result, the 16 engineers stationed in the region detected and identified 34 artillery shells of different calibers and warheads.

German and Soviet ammunition from the Second World War was destroyed in a specially arranged place, in conditions of maximum safety.

The source added that the works are continuing, as they are difficult due to the relief and the trees.

It should be mentioned that the demining mission in Bălțați village started last week, after two children were seriously injured as a result of the explosion of an unidentified object found in the region. Then, the engineers of the National Army discovered and liquidated 11 artillery shells and 9 warheads.

NOTE: The Ministry of Defense warns the citizens to notify the local authorities about the areas in which there is or is supposed the existence of ammunition. In case of finding unidentified explosive objects, it is forbidden to touch them with hands or other objects, to kick or move the ammunition found in soil or on the surface, to remove the warheads or other components.
