The Ministry of Defense Received Personal Protective Equipment From the United Kingdom (video)



 

CHISINAU, May 4, 2020 - The Ministry of Defense received a batch of protective equipment from the British Embassy in Chisinau.

The donation, worth over 17 thousand pounds, the equivalent of about 388 thousand lei, contains 8,000 surgical masks, 10,000 cotton masks, 2,000 liters of disinfectant, 20 infrared thermometers, 1,000 of protective coveralls and 10,000 pairs of nitrile gloves.

According to the British Defense Attache, Squadron Commander Rob Hall, the equipment was provided at the request of the defense institution of the Republic of Moldova, as well as in the context of collaborative relations between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Moldova, both in the security and defense in other areas.

"The Armed Forces of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Moldova are fighting on the front lines against Covid-19, providing assistance to both civilian and medical authorities. I am proud that we can support the efforts of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova to fight the virus Covid-19, but also the medical institutions, which make significant efforts and work very selflessly for the care of infected patients", mentioned Rob Hall.

In his turn, the Minister of Defense Alexandru Pinzari thanked the British partners for the support offered to the institution in the fight against the new coronavirus. "In this time of hardship for all mankind, the most important thing is to help and support each other. I express my gratitude and gratitude to the British Embassy in Chisinau for the donation received by the Ministry of Defense. It is a donation of products extremely necessary for the protection of the National Army soldiers, military doctors, but also employees of the Ministry of Defense and Army who fight, in the first line, against the spread of COVID-19", said Alexandru Pinzari.

According to the head of the Military Inspectorate, Colonel Victor Pirtina, some of the means of protection have already been received by the Ministry of Defense, through economic agents contracted by the British Embassy, the others will be delivered to the institution in the near future.

The source specified that the respective equipment will be distributed in the military units, the medical institutions of the army, as well as in other related subdivisions.

 

It should be noted that recently, the Ministry of Defense also received a batch of 6,000 protective masks from a specialized company in the People`s Republic of China.
