Demining in May: about 800 explosive devices liquidated by National Army engineers

CHISINAU, June 3, 2020 - The genius teams of the National Army liquidated during May about 800 explosive objects of different caliber throughout the country.

According to the head of the Engineering Service, Lieutenant-Colonel Adrian Efros, the largest demining mission carried out during that period, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Gheorghe Banu, was in the forest near Baltati village, Ialoveni district, where the engineers of the "Codru" Battalion discovered so far 770 explosive objects of various types.

The source specified that the genius mission, which started on April 22 this year, continues until the military will complete the research of the entire forest area.

Other explosive objects were identified and neutralized in the localities from Causeni, Ungheni and Anenii Noi districts.

World War II ammunition was transported to nearby training centers and destroyed in complete safety.

Since the beginning of the year, the engineers of the National Army have liquidated 1110 explosive objects in 108 demining missions carried out in all regions of the country.a
