National Army soldiers on duty in Kosovo



CHISINAU, June 9, 2020 - The National Army`s KFOR peacekeeping operation in Kosovo continues its specific theater of operations, in compliance with all measures of protection against COVID-19.

According to the commander of the Moldovan contingent, Lieutenant-Colonel Ion Cozaru, the peacekeepers perform the daily guard service at the Italian military base Camp Vilaggio in Pech, together with their colleagues from other participating countries.

The source specified that Moldovan officers and non-commissioned officers also conduct patrols to recognize and monitor the situation in the area of responsibility of the Regional-Western Command.

Lieutenant-Colonel Cozaru, added that at the same time, engineers from the National Army contingent participate in missions to investigate the travel itinerary and landing areas of helicopters, possibly to identify and neutralize explosive objects left on the ground and ensure the security of the troops at debt.

The twelfth contingent of the National Army consists of 40 professional soldiers, of which seven engineers and a platoon of 33 infantry.

They left for Kosovo in December 2019 and will return home this July.
