Start mission for the KFOR-13 contingent in Kosovo!

Pech, Kosovo, July 17, 2020 - The 12th National Army contingent in the KFOR peacekeeping operation for nearly seven months has completed its mission in Kosovo.

He was replaced by another contingent of 41 Moldovan soldiers during a transfer of authority ceremony at the Italian military base Camp Vilaggio in Pech.

The event was attended by the commander of Operation KFOR, Major General Michele Risi, the former and current head of the West Regional Command (CRW), Colonel Natale Gatti and Colonel Gianluca Figus, the Italian Ambassador to Kosovo, Nicola Orlando, soldiers from Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey, which are still part of the CRW, but also Moldovan peacekeepers from the KFOR-12 and KFOR-13 contingents.

The ceremony began with the traditional laying of flowers at the monument to those who fell on the mission. Subsequently, Commander KFOR-12, Lieutenant Colonel Ion Cozaru handed over the flag and responsibilities of Lieutenant Colonel Veaceslav Corcodel, Commander KFOR-13, for the following months of office. In the end, Moldovan soldiers from the two contingents exchanged badges.

It should be noted that due to the security measures regarding Covid-19, on the part of the contingents, a small number of soldiers participated in the event, which also included the transfer of authority to the CRW leadership.

The twelfth contingent of the National Army was in Kosovo between December 2019 and July 2020, during which the 41 Moldovan officers, sergeants and soldiers carried out security and guard missions of military and patrol objectives, as well as missions. research of the travel itinerary and runways of helicopters.

The KFOR-13 contingent of the National Army was deployed in Kosovo on Friday, July 10, and consists of 41 professional soldiers.
