National Army Contingent KFOR-13 – One Month in Kosovo Mission



 

CHISINAU, August 14, 2020 - The military from the Thirteenth National Army contingent in the KFOR peacekeeping operation in Kosovo have begun carrying out peacekeeping missions in the area of responsibility, in compliance with all protection measures against COVID-19, established by command.

According to the contingent commander, Lieutenant Colonel Veaceslav Corcodel, during the first month in Kosovo, Moldovan officers, sergeants and soldiers were trained by their colleagues from other countries in terms of crowd control and fire phobia, as well as the conduct of foreign military equipment, including VM-90 vehicles.

The source specified that currently, the Moldovan infantry platoon provides security and protection to the Dean Monastery in the region and performs specific missions at the checkpoints of the Italian base Camp Vilaggio in Pech, where the contingent is deployed. At the same time, in the near future, the Moldovan military will be involved in patrols on foot and on cars in the area of responsibility.

The seven engineers from the contingent are working in support of their colleagues in Austria and Slovenia, being involved in field genetic research missions, in particular patrol routes and helicopter landing territory.The KFOR-13 contingent, made up of 41 professional service members, left for Kosovo in July. It is located in Pech village and is part of the Regional Command West.
