Earth samples from the graves of fallen soldiers in World War II, sent to the Military Museum

CHISINAU, August 24, 2020 - The President of the Republic of Moldova, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Igor Dodon, participated today in the ceremony of handing over to the Military Museum within the Center for Military Culture and History (CCIM) 150 tubes-cartridges of earth taken from graves and the memorials of the fallen soldiers of the Second World War throughout the country.

The event, which was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, veterans and military, took place in the context of the commemorative action "Roads of Memory", on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory Day.

"By organizing such events, the deeds of bravery of the soldiers who fell on the battlefield 75 years ago are kept in memory. It is very important both for us and for future generations to be aware of the price paid by our ancestors so that today we can enjoy a peaceful life on this land and in peace to build our future", said Igor Dodon

The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces thanked the leadership and the military of the National Army for their involvement and effort in organizing and carrying out the commemorative action.

It should be noted that the soil samples sent today in the patrimony of CCIM were taken over by the soldiers of the National Army during August 3-20, from about 160 localities of the country. The activities were carried out jointly with the local public authorities.
