The new country representative of the UN Women organization in the Republic of Moldova, at the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, October 19, 2020 - The Minister of Defense Alexandru Pinzari had a meeting with the new country representative of the UN Women organization in the Republic of Moldova, Dominika Stojanoska.
The official congratulated the UN Women representative on the occasion of her appointment and wished her success in her term. At the same time, Alexandru Pinzari expressed his conviction that the two institutions will continue to collaborate in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Women`s Empowerment (UN Women), signed on July 17, 2018.
During the dialogue, the Minister of Defense thanked the organization for its support in promoting women in the security and defense sector, as well as gender equality, through the implementation of Resolution 1325, the implementation of sectoral policy documents in the field of gender equality, military and civilian training, as well as for assistance in launching and developing the National Army Women`s Association.
For her part, Dominika Stojanoska assured that she will make every effort to carry out joint actions with regard to the "Women, Peace and Security" agenda, an important commitment that our country has made in international cooperation in this segment.
At the end of the meeting, the UN Women Representative in the Republic of Moldova offered the Women`s Association of the National Army a set of equipment designed to ensure effective communication between AFAN members at work meetings held in crisis situations.
In 2018, the Republic of Moldova approved its first National Program and Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security. In order to achieve the objectives in the field, established at national level, the Ministry of Defense has elaborated its own Institutional Plan.
