Ammunition Arsenal discovered in to the village Plop-Stiubei

CHISINAU, November 10, 2020 - Engineers from the Battalion "Codru" neutralized an arsenal of ammunition from the Second World War, near the village of Plop-Stiubei, Causeni district.

According to the commander of the Genius Battalion, Colonel Gheorghe Racu, the explosive objects were detected on a field following the agricultural works. The team of engineers, led by Captain Gheorghe Rotari, went to the scene. Following a ground search, the military discovered 110 grenade launchers, 82 mm caliber, anti-tank mines, and hand grenades, all made in Germany.

The source mentioned that because the arsenal of ammunition, over 70 years in the ground, had a high degree of wear and the danger of transportation, it was neutralized on the spot, in conditions of maximum security.

NOTE: The Ministry of Defense warns that in areas where there is or is supposed to be ammunition, citizens are asked to notify the local authorities. In case of detection of unidentified explosive objects, it is strictly forbidden to touch the ammunition, to hit or move the ammunition found in the ground or on the surface, to disassemble the warheads or other components.
