National Army Commander Attends North Atlantic Alliance Military Committee Reunion in Brussels



Chisinau, January 27, 2021 - Chief of Main Staff, National Army Commander, , Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, participates, within January 18-21, in the NATO Military Committee Reunion in the format of the Chiefs of Staff of the allied and partner countries. The meeting will take place at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

The program of the event includes a series of sessions dedicated to the topics related to the peacekeeping operations carried out by the organization at the international level, as well as the current challenges in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Alliance`s contribution to its prevention.

In Brussels, General Igor Gorgan will meet with the chairs of the Military Committees of the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union, Marshal Stuart Peach and General Claudio Graziano, respectively.

At the same time, the commander of the National Army has planned meetings with his counterparts in Georgia and Ukraine and online discussions with the chiefs of staff of Romania and Italy, to review aspects of bilateral military cooperation, with a focus on participating in peacekeeping missions with an international mandate, including KFOR in Kosovo.

The Reunion of the Military Committee takes place twice a year at NATO headquarters in Brussels, at the level of the Chiefs of Staff. The purpose of the event is to address Alliance-led operations and missions and provide military advice on how it can address global security challenges.
