Moldovan- American Dialogue at Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, March 25, 2021 - The commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, as well as the representatives of the General Staff had a working meeting with the American military attaché, Commander Joshua Hensley, but also with the expert adviser for assistance in reforming and developing the Army National, Karen Bonaby.
The discussion focused on the topics related to bilateral cooperation in the field of defense, the implementation process of phase II of the Defense Capabilities Development Initiative (DCBI), but also the implementation of the National Army`s Long-Term Development Plan (2020- 2030).
General Igor Gorgan underlined the constant support of US partners in reforming and developing the national military structure.
In turn, Commander Hensley mentioned the readiness of the US government to support the initiatives carried out in the defense sector of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the opening to new programs of common interest.
The Moldovan-American defense cooperation started on December 4, 1995, upon the signature of the Memorandum "Regarding the cooperation in the military area between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the US Department of Defense".
