Informational Technology Equipment provision within the Defense Capacity Building Initiative

CHISINAU, March 30, 2021 - The informational technology equipment provision project within the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) has been successfully completed.

The ceremony of handing over the informational technology equipment to the Transformation Directorate was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense, NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Moldova, ambassadors of Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden - countries that contributed financially to the Trust Fund and Allied military attachés, as well as the Deputy Assistant Secretary-General, of the Operations Division, NATO Headquarters, Mr. Jonathan Parish.

The Secretary of State for Defense Policy, National Defense Planning and Military Interoperability, Mr. Aurel Fondos, thanked the partners for their help provided to the Ministry of Defense, mentioning the importance of this IT equipment, which will facilitate the implementation of the Phase II of the Implementation Plan in the Assistance Package, within the DCBI. "This technical equipment is essential to move forward in the effort to transform the Moldovan defense institution, and your contribution has helped us get closer to our goal," said Aurel Fondos.

In his turn, Mr. Jonathan Parish mentioned that the project was possible thanks to the financial support of the three donor states - Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden, stressing that the partners will continue to assist the reform process in the defense sector of the Republic of Moldova . "The successful delivery of this IT equipment project is yet another very good example of NATO’s continuous support to Moldova despite the challenges posed by the pandemic", said Mr. Jonathan Parish.

It should be noted that Phase II of the DCBI Initiative includes several areas of assistance, including technical assistance, provided to the Republic of Moldova through bilateral relations initiated or that are to be initiated between our country and allied and partner states.
